Beat Society Makes Triumphant Return To NYC

February 13, 2011

Don Cannon and Illmind Beat Society Tammany Hall“What the f*ck are you doing here?” must have been the most repeated phrase of the night, usually followed by an “oh sh*t” and an appreciative pound or hug. On a night when many of the music industry’s elite were hopping red eye’s to California for the 53rd Grammy Awards, New York’s Tammany Hall was like a family reunion for hip-hop’s true school disciples.

The occasion? The first Beat*Society producer showcase in New York in almost six years. The producers exhibition featured Don Cannon, !llmind, Khrysis, Buckwild, Nottz and DJ Revolution on their laptops and Maschines showing off unreleased beats, remixes and sample flips. DJ Evil Dee was on the 1s and 2s warming up the capacity crowd which included Hot 97s DJ Enuff, Peter Rosenberg, Sha Money XL, Oddisee, RSonist, Chace Infinite and Vibe magazines Datwon Thomas.

Hosted by SAO and Stef Tataz (congrats on the little one!) the night also included performances by Danny Brown, Malcolm and Martin, Muhsinah, Skyzoo and Rah Digga.

But to truly appreciate how special the night was you need only this one quote from DJ Enuff, who easily could have walked in the building on name recognition alone: “I paid my $15 to get in! Cuz I support ya’ll!”

Keep checking this post as Nodfactor.com updates with videos from the night.

DJ Revolution Interviews Mark The 45 King Producer Of Stan & Hard Knock Life (Parts 1 & 2)

November 26, 2010

Straight from “The Cut” DJ Revolution interviews Mark The 45 King, producer of Jay-Z’s “Hard Knock Life” and arguably the greatest story telling track of all time Eminem’s “Stan”. The story of “Stan” is an interesting one, he says he started shopping beats after getting released from jail on a weed charge and originally it was bought by Foxy’s brother for an artist named Pretty Boy. We should all thank God for intervening.

Just Blaze Hosting “Master Of The Mix” On Centric

October 5, 2010

So this is the show Just Blaze was being mum about with us a few days ago:

SMIRNOFF Vodka is launching a new reality television show, Master of the Mix. In a quest to crown the hottest DJ in the world, Master of the Mix is hosting multiple DJs in cities throughout the world to determine the ultimate mix master. Hosted by Grammy nominated producer/DJ, Just Blaze, and world famous DJ, Kid Capri, the show will pit the world’s most prominent DJs against each other in head-to-head competition. The show will air Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. ET beginning 11/3 on Centric, a 24-hour music and entertainment channel aimed at the African American audience. The show re-airs on Saturday nights at midnight ET on BET.

What’s trippy about this show is they have legends like DJ Scratch, DJ Revolution and Jazzy Joyce competing against each other. Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
