Drinks With DJ Scratch [VIDEO]
December 27, 2010
A few weeks before the end of the Master Of The Mix competition I had a chance to get slightly inebriated (not really) with the legendary DJ Scratch. In this first part we talk about the challenges on Smirnoff’s “Master Of The Mix” reality show and why he chose to do it in the first place. Later on I get him to retell the story of how he met Jam Master Jay as well as how he reunited with EPMD.
Master Of The Mix Talib Remix Battle [VIDEO]
December 23, 2010
Smirnoff’s Master of The Mix wrapped with DJ Scratch declared the winner. However, this was one of the coolest parts of the series, when the three DJ/producers had to remix a Talib Kweli acapella.
Viewers were given a sneak peak inside of their respective recording spaces, including Scratch’s lab Area-51.

DJ Scratch Wins Smirnoff Master Of The Mix
December 23, 2010
Last night DJ Scratch brought Smirnoff’s Master of The Mix title home to Brooklyn along with $250,000 in prizes. He went head-to-head with Philly’s Vikter Duplaix in the finals.
“Congrats to Vikter Duplaxi, he never gave up,” Scratch said via his Twitter page. “You never gave up, you let the judges know what it is & you made the biggest adjustment. Salute!!”
He went on to thank his Scratchvision.com team, DJ Clark Kent, DJ Spinna, Kenny Dope and “all DJS. Please support and rep our culture.”
Stay tuned for my exclusive sit-down with DJ Scratch over some drinks of, what else? Smirnoff. Ha!
Just Blaze Hosting “Master Of The Mix” On Centric
October 5, 2010
So this is the show Just Blaze was being mum about with us a few days ago:
SMIRNOFF Vodka is launching a new reality television show, Master of the Mix. In a quest to crown the hottest DJ in the world, Master of the Mix is hosting multiple DJs in cities throughout the world to determine the ultimate mix master. Hosted by Grammy nominated producer/DJ, Just Blaze, and world famous DJ, Kid Capri, the show will pit the world’s most prominent DJs against each other in head-to-head competition. The show will air Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. ET beginning 11/3 on Centric, a 24-hour music and entertainment channel aimed at the African American audience. The show re-airs on Saturday nights at midnight ET on BET.
What’s trippy about this show is they have legends like DJ Scratch, DJ Revolution and Jazzy Joyce competing against each other. Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Smirnoff gets “Criminal Minded” with DJ Premier and KRS-One
March 5, 2008
NEW YORK, In February the makers of Smirnoff vodka launched an exciting new Smirnoff Signature Mix Series, a campaign pairing three acclaimed rappers with contemporary beat- maestros to create new versions of iconic hip-hop songs. Nationally renowned artists Common, Q-Tip, and KRS-One are joining musical forces with Just Blaze, Cool & Dre, and DJ Premier to remix Common’s “The Light,” A Tribe Called Quest’s “Midnight,” and Boogie Down Productions’ seminal “Criminal Minded.”
Each artist/producer pairing represents a Smirnoff mixed drink made by blending one of the best-selling Smirnoff flavored vodka products with a popular mixer. “The Southside,” made with Smirnoff Green Apple flavored vodka and cranberry juice, is the inspiration for Common and Just Blaze’s collaboration. “The Blueberry Abstract,” made with Smirnoff Blueberry flavored vodka and lemonade, is linked to the partnership between Q-Tip and Cool & Dre. “The Cypha,” an exciting blend of Smirnoff Raspberry flavored vodka and pineapple juice, represents the collaboration between KRS-One and DJ Premier.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to revisit one of my signature songs and give it a breath of fresh air,” said KRS-One. “I’m grateful to Smirnoff for providing the opportunity to work with such great talent on such a ground- breaking idea and recreate hip-hop songs.”
