Mr. Porter talks to us about working with one of the greatest MCs ever, Pharoahe Monch. The two have collaborated on a list of songs including, “Losing My Mind” from PTSD and “The Trilogy” from Desire.
“I was thinking about the whole Proof situation when I wrote that,” he says of the “Revenge” portion of the “Trilogy. “I wasn’t giving it full effort at the time so it was just an idea but Dwele came in and killed it.”
In addition to talking about past work Mr. Porter revealed that he has some new work with Monch out that we definitely want to hear.
“Pharoahe just did a verse on a song called ‘Intimidation’ that’s on my mans album, a jazz artist named B Williams from Detroit. It’s me, Robert Glasper, Pharoahe Monch and Black Milk. I’m singing the whole joint, I’m not rapping at all. I think that’s coming out soon. It’s all of us, Robert played the keys on it and Black did the beat. I sang over Black’s beat and we sent it to Rob and he added keys and a drummer and Pharaohe put a verse. That’s the homie.”
