The Making Of Jeru The Damaja’s “Come Clean” [VIDEO]

As the latest entry in Complex TV’s Magnum Opus series, we get to go behind the making of the DJ Premier-produced track “Come Clean” by Jeru The Damaja with commentary from the likes of Premo, Engineer Eddie Sancho, Phat Gary and more.

I remember the arguments almost twenty years ago in 1994 over whether Premo sampled water drops or not to make the beat.  It’d be years before we had our bubbles burst (but be no less impressed) when the Shelly Manne sample was revealed. Nevertheless, that is a fraction of what made this song great, so watch and learn from those that made it possible.

On a separate but related note, check out DJ Premier speaking on DJ Skizz’s upcoming debut album ”B.Q.E” dropping on Soulspazm 9/17.
