I can’t believe that it’s going to be ten years since Masta Ace’s Disposable Arts dropped. It was easily one of the last great concept albums in hip-hop and deserves a proper re-release (pun intended for those familiar with the project). I went by the studio to catch up with producer Gerrard C. Baker and Ace was in the building putting the finishing touches on his upcoming MF Doom album. Seeing that the hip-hop gods were clearly feeling generous (Large Pro and Torae just happened to be in the studio as well) I got them to talk about “Take A Walk”–Baker’s first hip-hop placement–and one of my favorite songs from that album.
