One half of the legendary Mizell Brothers, Alphonso “Fonce” Mizell has passed away at the age of 68. The Mizell brothers did early work for The Jackson 5 and produced Donald Byrd’s first album for Blue Note Records, Black Byrd. Their compositions, most notably “Think Twice” and “Wind Parade” have been sampled and recreated by everyone from Madlib and J-Dilla to A Tribe Called Quest.

Twitter gifted this mix by DJ Matthew Africa if you need a quick reference to the grooves. R.I.P.
