Noisemakers | PETE ROCK

Pete Rock joins Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg for Noisemakers’ latest conversation with house band The Noize paying tribute to his music. Pete Rock’s impeccable recording, producing and remixing career is one of the most distinguished in rap history, and includes collaborations with Nas, Common, Mary J. Blige, Ghostface Killa, Busta Rhymes, Public Enemy and Run-DMC. Pete made a name for himself as part of the seminal group, Pete Rock and CL Smooth during the early 1990s, producing the classic albums Mecca and the Soul Brother and The Main Ingredient. It was also during that period that Pete Rock emerged as the premier remixer in the urban music industry; his horn-driven work on Public Enemy’s “Shut Em Down” made him a remix phenomenon. Pete Rock has released a string of highly regarded solo albums, including 1998’s Soul Survivor 2004’s Soul Survivor II and most recently 2008’s NY’s Finest.
