You could probably describe Bernard “Focus…” Edwards, Jr. production sound as soulful tempura roll: spicy and layered with just enough crunch. The multi-instrumentalist has blessed tracks for The Game, Busta Rhymes, Marsha Ambrosius, Bishop Lamont and more. After spending six years working as an in-house producer for Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment, Focus took a hiatus in 2009 and returned after a few years. Most recently he worked on six tracks from Dre’s Compton album and released two instrumental albums, Analog In a Digital World (Part 1 and 2) in 2015.
But for the unfamiliar here is a mini-diary of a one man mad band.
