Grammy winning producer Denaun Porter has been hoarding music for a few years and is about to release it all in waves. Check out the first track “Hey” creatively intercut with snippets from this new EP “Stuff In My Backpack.”
“I was chilling with Jay Electronica and his DJ, DJ TJ, and he starts playing loops. I stopped him when he got the that loop [heard in “Hey”] and I instantly thought it would be cool to rhyme over it. Things are pretty uptight these days with all that’s going on and there’s not bee a lot to smile about, so I called up some friends, hit the beach and shot the video. This project reminds me of my roots which is 93 to 96 era of hip hop that got me started- Tribe, Common, De La and Slum Village. This is just something light-hearted I wanted to share.”
The video, directed by Morningside Films, also gives fans a precursor of what’s to come from from the EP as they will hear snippets of select tracks infused within the piece. Songs like “Cooking” (featuring Royce Da 5’9″ and another surprise guest) and “Impayshunt” featuring Phonte, which is the first track released by DEnAuN featuring his singing chops
“Stuff In My Back Pack” (dropping later this month) is a refreshing body of work, all produced by Mr. Porter, that will provide fans a bit of DEnAuN as he gears up for the release of his highly anticipated album, “NiNe”, dropping in 2015. The project features guest appearances by Rhapsody, Scram Jones, Royce Da 5’9 and Phonte.
