On Tuesday February 18th WAR Media and JAMLA Records will be releasing an “unofficial” mixtape/EP for one of the best new shows on television, “Black Dynamite.”  The 11-track collection is overseen by the show’s Music Supervisor, Composer and Music Editor, Fatin “10” Horton. The multi-hyphenate samples music from the live action movie and features appearances by Pharoahe Monch, Jean Grae, Skyzoo, Torae, Rapsody, GQ, Big Remo and more.

Nodfactor “hung out” with Fatin to get the scoop on the creation of the mixtape and his work on the television series.

“Putting it together was a really seamless process because they’re all fans of the show,” says Fatin. “I produced everything and sequenced the record before anybody got on it. So I knew where it was going and I’d send what I heard people on.”

One track that is already out for your listening pleasure is Jean Grae’s “Shot,” where the first assassin rolls up on her cheating boyfriend with an arsenal that would even make Nicholas Cage’s “God of War” want to call the NRA in protest.

“All those guns she listed in the joint…she did the record and she called me ‘Dude I have never done so much research for a song in my life.’ And I was like what do you mean? She said ‘Just check your email. I literally researched those.’ For her to come back around and put that in context and make it something that you can feel her as a person, that’s just genius, dude. She killed the verse and did all the voice acting at the end. You know what, you win.”

A Tribute to Black Dynamite — The Unofficial Mixtape will be available exclusive on Rapgenius.com this Tuesday. Peep the tracklist after the video.
