Eric G and Skyzoo came together to make one of the most meaningful songs of the last five years, “For What It’s Worth” from his debut The Salvation. The song talks about the day Sky was fired from a job at Morgan Stanley in 2006 at  and the thoughts he went through trying to decide what to do next. The song is built around a sample of Dee Dee Bridgewater’s “My Lonely Room.”

Born in Memphis Tennessee and raised in Flint Michigan, Dee Dee (Denise) Bridgewater is a two-time Grammy Award winning jazz vocalist. The song appears on her self-titled release in 1976. “My Lonely Room” has also be sampled by Talib Kweli, Ghostface & Raekwon and Soopafly.
