Robert Glasper Says Mos Def Was At Carnegie Hall First, Not Jay-Z

On Thursday December 8, Jay-Z announced that he would be doing two concerts at Carnegie Hall for The Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and the United Way of New York City. It’s being touted as an historic moment for hip-hop, and rightfully so. However, while having the concert series is a first for any hip-hop artist, Jigga is not the first MC to rock the legendary venue.

As keyboardist Robert Glasper pointed out on his twitter page today, Mos Def performed at Carnegie Hall in 2008.

Mos shared the stage with his big band and the late Gil Scott-Heron.
