Pop Wansel On Making Big Sean’s “Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay”

Pop Wansel, Dexter Wansel's sonPhiladelphia born producer Pop Wansel spoke with MuziksMyLife.com about a track he produced for Big Sean’s up-coming album Finally Famous, “Marvin Gaye & Chardonanny.”  The producer behind Nicki Minaj’s “Your Love” and Trey Sonz “Unusual” is actually son to the iconic Philadelphia songwriter Dexter Wansel who’s “Time Is The Teacher” was sampled for Rick Ross’s “Maybach Music 2.”

Wansel told the site that he originally gave the Big Sean beat to Roscoe Dash, who also appears on the record, and it ended up in Kanye West’s hands:

“Some way or another—I’ll never know why, I’ll never know how, and I’ll never ask any questions because I’m so grateful that it happened—the beat ended up in Roscoe Dash’s hands. Some way or another. Then, it got to G.O.O.D. Music; it got to Kanye, Don C, and Big Sean. Before I knew it, I was on my way to New York to hand deliver these files to Kanye. [Laughs.] That’s just how it happened. I made that beat in my momma’s basement, in North Philadelphia, in the hood and it went somewhere.”

This Big Sean album is stirring up to be a big deal. Check the clips from the listening party where NO ID and Kanye West address the crowd and give their vote of confidence.
