Bloggin 4 Beats: The Ms. Fat Booty Remix

There’s a glitch in the Matrix. I gotta blame this one on some DJ I must have heard many years ago who blended “Ms Fat Booty” with the instrumental to “Big Poppa.” For real. I found these Mos Def Acapellas and when I played this I kept hearing “Between The Sheets” under it on some serious Deja vu shit. But since I’m not a DJ, trying to match up that instrumental for a blend with nothing but Mixmeister would have taken longer than just looping up the Isley’s my damn self and remixing it.

Even if it’s not totally my idea I do like the vibe though. “Ms Fat Booty” is still one of the sexiest hip-hop records ever recorded and BTS is undeniably smooth. But then I thought, “why stop there?” Just Blaze bodied BTS for Jay-Z’s “Ignorant Shit” so why not throw in a curve to see how it sounds? Having just heard what Blastah Beatz did with Marvin I turned to “Sexual Healing.” The trick then was, what part? After isolating a piece that wasn’t overpowering I slid it in a few choice places.

After more than a week away from the computer ( I was in Orlando with the fam) this was a nice warm up. I’m looking for a copy of the Isley’s “Here We Go Again.” Anybody that can help hit a brother up.- JLB
